Available Programs

* Early Intervention Program
(6 month-3 years)

CPSCC’s Early Intervention Program is specifically designed to meet the needs of a young baby or toddler who is simply not reaching developmental landmarks at the usual age.  The program welcomes children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years with undiagnosed motor developmental delay or diagnosed motor disability.  A parent or caregiver attends the sessions with the child.

This is not the time ‘to wait and see’; in fact this is the time to seek professional help and close the gap between the atypically and typically developing children.

* Preschool Program
(3 to 5 years)

 CPSCC’s Preschool program is specifically designed to meet the needs of the preschool age child with motor developmental delay or with life-long motor disability.  Children diligently work on functional skills and play with peers in a group setting without parent participation.  Structured daily routine and highly qualified leader ensures success.

‘Do not ask me what I can do for the child.  Ask him what he can do for himself.’  A. Peto, M.D.

* Kindergarten-Grade 2 Program
(5 to 8 years)

 CPSCC’s Kindergarten-Grade 2 Program is specifically designed to meet the needs of the developing child with motor developmental delay or with life-long motor disability between the ages of 5 and 8. Children work on everyday life-skills while enjoying age-appropriate, fun activities with peer participation.

CPSCC believes that all children can learn, and all children have the right to succeed.  CPSCC’s goal is to prepare the children for inclusion in their home school district and society.

CPSCC’s Programs will:

  • work on the child’s gross motor skills, fine motor skills, cognitive skills, social skills, communication skills and self-help skills.
  • provide education for the family regarding their child’s development.
  • empower the parent to feel adequate in encouraging their child and to use the appropriate handling techniques.
  • empower the child to achieve a higher level of self-esteem.
  • change the ‘I cannot do it, do it for me’ attitude to ‘I can do it, I want to do it’ attitude.
  • guide the child to a higher level of independence.
  • provide the child with peer support while attending a fun, therapeutic education program.
  • give the family a new way of living.

    Additional Family Benefits Include:
    Parents’ Night Out, Educational Workshops, Home Visit, and Support Group.

    Philosophy of Program

    CPSCC is utilizing an intensive, ‘mind- and body-moving’ educational system, called Conductive education (CE), specifically-designed for individuals with motor developmental delay and life-long neuromotor disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy.  CPSCC works with the whole child with the ultimate goal in mind: helping children to achieve their highest level of independence and maximum potential.
    CE was founded around 1945 by Prof. Peto, M.D. who recognized the human brain’s plasticity.  Neuroplasticity is the ability of the nervous system to adapt its structural organization to new situations emerging from developmental situations and injuries.  This adaptation occurs through active learning within a structured daily routine led by a highly qualified professional.

    CE has been featured on CBS News’ Program, 60 Minutes twice in 2004.

    Professional Staff

    CPSCC is dedicated to provide exceptional rehabilitation and educational services to children in the Hampton Roads Area.  All Program leaders are highly qualified professionals with Bachelor or Masters Degree in specialization of motor disability.  CPSCC’s President, Judit Roth will oversee the summer program.  Judit has a Masters degree in the Art of Teaching and a unique bachelor degree in special education and conductive education.  She is a member of The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) and The Council of Exceptional Children (CEC).

    CPSCC is recognized by the National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC).
